Mehr als die Hälfte der Brandenburger Kinder besuchen eine Kindertageseinrichtung. Die Zahl der Jungen und Mädchen stieg dabei dieses Jahr von 53,2 Prozent (2007) auf 53,9 Prozent.
Auch Kinder unter drei Jahren besuchen vermehrt eine der 1.704 Tageseinrichtungen des Landes. Das teilte das Amt für Statistik Berlin-Brandenburg mit. Danach stieg die Zahl der jüngsten Kinder von 38,1 Prozent (2007) auf 38,9 Prozent.
Damit scheinen sich auch die Bemühungen der Bundesregierung auszuzahlen, die bis 2012 mehr als jedem dritten Kind unter drei Jahren einen Kitaplatz ermöglichen wollen. Dass dies in Potsdam schon heute möglich ist und genutzt wird, zeigt die positive Sicht auf die Tageseinrichtungen, die zumeist von privaten Trägern gehalten werden. Außerdem bestätigt dies die Nachfrage nach Vereinbarkeit von Beruf und Familie, die die Landeshauptstadt dadurch ermöglicht.
Nichts desto trotz wird mit der höheren Zahl der Kinder in den Kitas der Stadt Potsdam der reale Bedarf nicht angepasst werden können.Ein Kind mehr oder minder in einer ohnehin vollen Gruppe spielt dann keine Rolle, wenn neue Kitaplätze geschaffen werden sollen, die derzeit schon nicht reichen - dies zeigt nur mehr, dass das Maß der Verwaltungspolitik nicht an der Messlatte der Qualität sondern der Quantität liegt.

"It's was so exciting," Hunt told us last night. "It was all a bit emotional - I just met Kate and now I'm making a pair of shoes for her! She's so, so beautiful and really nice. She makes you feel really relaxed. She came and looked at all the shoes individually and then asked who had designed what. She said that they were all amazing and congratulated everyone."
Originally from Peterborough, Hunt was told she'd won the competition by De Montfort University's vice chancellor and could not be more pleased. She celebrated last night with drinks with her boyfriend, before heading down to London to appear on television show Daybreak this morning.
