Die Männer in Ostdeutschland machen vor wie es geht: In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern hat fast jeder vierte Vater im ersten Quartal 2008 Partnermonate beim Elterngeld beantragt. Das berichtet nun das Bundesministerin für Familie, Senioren, Frauen und Jugend unter Ursula von der Leyen.
Nach den aktuellsten Zahlen, die das Statistische Bundesamtes zum Elterngeld veröffentlichte, führen die Väter aus Mecklenburg (24,3%) und Bayern (23,1 %) die Spitze der neuen Väterbewegung an. "Auf Platz drei folgt Thüringen (22,9 %) vor Brandenburg (22,5 %). Die Väter in den neuen Bundesländern sind neue Spitzenreiter", so Ursula von der Leyen weiter.
Im letzten Jahr vor der Einführung des Elterngeldes hatte der Anteil der Väter in Elternzeit noch bei 3,5 Prozent gelegen. Die neuen Daten berücksichtigen nun den vollen Förderzeitraum von 14 Monaten, die das Elterngeld gezahlt wird. "Wir erleben gerade eine leise Revolution in unserer Gesellschaft: Immer mehr Väter beanspruchen bewusst Zeit für ihre Kinder." Fast jeder fünfte Vater in Deutschland (18,5 %) beantragt inzwischen die Partnermonate beim Elterngeld. "Auf die neuen Väter ist Verlass," so Ursula von der Leyen. "Diese Väter sind Vorbilder, denn sie setzen Prioritäten und zeigen ganz deutlich: Zeit mit meinem Kind ist mir von Anfang an wichtig." Seit der Einführung des Elterngeldes vor anderthalb Jahren hat sich die Zahl der jungen Väter, die sich eine Auszeit für ihre Kinder nehmen, damit inzwischen mehr als verfünffacht. "Wenn diese Dynamik weiter anhält, können wir schon in diesem Jahr die 20 Prozent-Grenze knacken", sagt die Bundesfamilienministerin. Nach einer Allensbach-Umfrage aus dem vergangenen Jahr will ein Viertel aller Väter Partnermonate beantragen.
Das Elterngeld ist in der Bevölkerung voll akzeptiert. Bei etwa 670.000 Geburten mit rund 683.000 Kindern seit Januar 2007 wurden insgesamt 720.000 Elterngeldanträge für Kinder gestellt, die im Jahr 2007 geboren wurden. "Das ist eine enorm große Zahl - vor allem, weil das Elterngeld typischerweise erst ein, zwei Monate nach der Geburt beantragt wird", so Ursula von der Leyen.
